Megan-Harley-smJune 28, 2010 -  It seems that I am not keeping up to my schedule of having my blog updates done each Sunday evening. Good intentions, huh? But then life seems to get in the way and those good intentions fly right out the window. You all know how I feel this time of year… right horse people? :-) Weekends are all about horse shows and weekdays, thrown in amongst our day to day jobs, is all about getting ready for them.

This year we are doing more shows than we have any other year. As mentioned in previous posts, we are trying to get some mileage on Charlie this year and each show we are seeing different “kinks” that need to be ironed out. But as a new kink crops up, another one fades away and he gets better and better. This time around we found he has an issue with fillers underneath the poles on a jump. So after the show on Sunday, we went out and bought some lumber to make some planks for our jumps. We even bought some hunter-colour paints to make things more like a hunter ring. I’ll try to take some pictures and share them next time.

Speaking of the show, we went to the Tottenham Equestrian Schooling Show this past Sunday. We took Harley’s new (well, used but new to Harley) trailer with the tack room. It was great to drive to a show and not have a car full of horse tack. But next time, Megan, when Eric offers to put hay in the back of his truck instead the trunk of my car, take him up on the offer.

We had a great time at the show. Megan rode Charlie, Harley rode Belle (because Ellie is still not 100% so she is getting some rest), Alyssa had both Aullie & Sirious from her own farm, Sydney rode Belle as well, and Ada Rose was there with her pony. This time around we didn’t put Charlie into the Junior horse division. He did the 2′3″ courses and also did the 2′6″ courses. It didn’t go exactly as planned but he was less loopy in the ring this time around, not to mention how he has gotten the whole trailer loading and unloading thing down pat, so it was a success all around.

And Sydney… so proud of you! You looked and did awesome in your very first horse show (besides the in-house shows). Congrats and can’t wait for the next one.

Be sure to check out some pictures from the show, including pictures of Sydney and her mommy’s pony Belle, on our Facebook fanpage and “Like” it (LOL… gees, that sounds funny… sounds like I am saying “like it or else” LOL).

Well, I think that’s it for now. I have  a crazy busy week ahead and with Megan home for the summer, there are never enough hours in the day to get all the work done and chauffeur her here and there.

Have a great week everyone!

This is such a great resource that you are providing and you give it away for free. I enjoy seeing websites that understand the value of providing a prime resource for free. I truly loved reading your post. Thanks!
