June 22, 2010 – Summer has finally arrived but the summer weather, and summer plans, started long before the official season formally arrived. It was wonderful weather, for the most part, last week which has given the girls and horses an opportunity to get in some more in-the-saddle time. They didn’t get off the property last week (they… being the horses, that is) but they each had a good amount of time here to do some work (in between rainy episodes).

We are still fine-tuning our plans for the summer show season (it’s funny… I don’t recall summers being so dependent on the schedule of the horses’ opportunities than it has been this season). Now that we have a couple of horses ready to show in the hunter schooling shows, we are always “checking our calendar” whenever some kind of human activity is made available. But, I guess it’s better than just sitting around all summer (I’d love to hear of any “horse owners” who have time to just sit around LOL).

We are still in the market for a used 2 horse bumper pull trailer. Our friends, the Ferreiras, got a heck of a deal on a gently used one last week (Soooo jealous! LOL). So, we are still shopping around for one but hopefully will get a chance to use their trailer for a few shows this summer :-). Ours is a perfectly nice trailer and we aren’t as rushed to sell it now that we know Charlie will get on it without any problem but it is getting a little annoying loading up my car with all the tack for each show. If we had a tack room on our trailer, there would be far less to pack up each time. Not to mention, the girls are always looking for a place to change. Harley is even planning on putting a mirror in their tack room, especially for Megan (she won’t take her helmet off until she can brush her hair…LOL).

This past Saturday we had a ladies night at a friend’s house. A bunch of us horse moms (and friends) got together for a pot luck evening and it was a lot of fun. Lots of gabbing and giggling and food. It was just what I, and some of the other stressed out ladies, needed. Thanks ladies… and thanks Tracy for hosting it. It was a blast. I left earlier than the rest of the ladies so I missed the hot tub (DAMN!). I wish I was there with my camera to catch certain ladies in bathing suits…LOL

You know… I don’t have much else to share in this week’s post (which may explain why I let this sit for a couple of days while I tried to think of something to write about). It’s been a week of “drama” (some of you will know what that is all about) but otherwise it’s been pretty quiet.

So, I think I cut if off here. If I think of anything else to share, I will post a comment later.

Have a great week everyone! See you next time.
