happynewyearJanuary 3, 2013 – Happy New Year to everyone! We hope you had a wonderful holiday season and that the coming year far exceeds your expectations (I know that is what I am hoping for…LOL). Lots of ups and downs last year… am hoping that 2013 is nothing but ups (LOL… does that sound weird?). Read the rest of this entry »

RIP my beloved Shadow

September 19, 2012 – Today is one of the hardest days of my life. Today I said good-bye to my beloved Shadow… the best dog in the world. Read the rest of this entry »

February 26, 2012 – Well… it has been a pretty busy month around the farm and with business. So busy, in fact, that I haven’t had much quiet time to just sit and do nothing (or update my blog). I like being busy, I really do, but some days I would give anything to just sit and veg. I guess the days when I have nothing but time will come soon enough so I guess I should be grateful that my life is so full now. Read the rest of this entry »

Shady Ridge Farm currently has 2 stalls available for boarding. We have a cute little barn with tack room and a couple of paddocks… not to mention a sand ring and beautiful trails.

DSCN4480-sm3August 22, 2011 – You would think I live the busy life of a horse mom or something by the lack of “ramblings” I have posted here. Oh ya… that’s right… I am a busy horse mom… not to mention entrepreneur, wife, mother and Jill of all trades. And this summer seems to be busier than any other summer that I can remember. DSCN4068-smJune 16, 2011 – It’s been another busy couple of weeks around here. The weather has been “mostly” pretty darn nice (aside from a little rain and one rather intimidating storm) so a lot of time outside doing this, that and the other thing. I hope wherever you are, you are having nice weather too. Now I am just hoping that the summer doesn’t end up being too hot and we get lots of time outdoors without out frying. And don’t get me started on the bugs. They are terrible this year. Even the “not normally bothered by bugs” horses are not happy. Might have to get fly sheets for all of them. 🙂 Read the rest of this entry »

IMG_0164-smMay 29, 2011 – This has been a week chalk full of news and, thankfully, most of it is pretty darn good news. Do you ever have one of those days where you sit back and think about everything you have and thank your lucky stars for the fortunate things in life? Well (aside from sounding way too deep here), this has been one of those days. I sit here thinking, “You know.. you are one lucky lady!” A wonderful family that I am proud of; a successful business (actually, a couple of them); great friends; and a beautiful piece of property that, although is in constant need of maintaining, is great to look out the window and see everyday. And of course the animals that are a never ending source of entertainment (and sometimes stress..LOL). Read the rest of this entry »

DSCN2814-sm,April 24, 2011 – Happy Easter, everyone! I don’t know about you but the longer, warmer (and sometimes dryer) days means spending more time with the horses and it really lift my spirits… even the bad things don’t seem so bad. So, today’s blog is all about the last week or so’s events and how we got through some of the issues and smiled through the good things. Read the rest of this entry »

EllieApril 6, 2011 – Well… I have really been slacking on updating my blog… shame on me. And I keep saying I will try to be more diligent  about updating and then it doesn’t happen. Life just gets in the way, I guess. So, I have come to the conclusion that trying to update this blog on a regular schedule will probably not be possible especially now the warmer weather is slowly happening and we spend more time outside with the horses. If you aren’t already a subscriber to this blog and just come by to see what’s new, you may want to subscribe so you are notified when something new is posted. Read the rest of this entry »

DSCN5156-smDecember 15, 2010 – Ok… I admit it… I could really do without winter. Don’t get me wrong… I’m proud to be a Canadian but why wasn’t some nice warm continent chosen to be the place where the first Canadian flag flew? I am not a big fan of winter! Sure, I love having a white Christmas (and by the look of the snow that has been falling solid for 3 days now, we will definitely have one this year) but that’s it… that’s all the “winterlike” conditions I really want. And, I am not a winter sports kind of person. In fact, I prefer to leave the house as little as possible between November and March. Read the rest of this entry »
