EllieApril 6, 2011 – Well… I have really been slacking on updating my blog… shame on me. And I keep saying I will try to be more diligent  about updating and then it doesn’t happen. Life just gets in the way, I guess. So, I have come to the conclusion that trying to update this blog on a regular schedule will probably not be possible especially now the warmer weather is slowly happening and we spend more time outside with the horses. If you aren’t already a subscriber to this blog and just come by to see what’s new, you may want to subscribe so you are notified when something new is posted. Read the rest of this entry »

DSCN5795-smFebruary 10, 2011 – Wow… I just realized it has been weeks since I have done an update on my blog. I am sooo sorry about that. I have just been so slammed with work and life in general. I did write a blog post a couple of weeks ago but I never published it. It was basically outlining a health issue that I am faced with right now (don’t worry… not life threatening) but then I decided that I didn’t need to burden anyone with that so it is sitting in my draft folder for now. Perhaps I will share one day but for right now, I will just hold off and only share the usual updates on the horses and other things that are on the go. Read the rest of this entry »

DSCN5156-smDecember 15, 2010 – Ok… I admit it… I could really do without winter. Don’t get me wrong… I’m proud to be a Canadian but why wasn’t some nice warm continent chosen to be the place where the first Canadian flag flew? I am not a big fan of winter! Sure, I love having a white Christmas (and by the look of the snow that has been falling solid for 3 days now, we will definitely have one this year) but that’s it… that’s all the “winterlike” conditions I really want. And, I am not a winter sports kind of person. In fact, I prefer to leave the house as little as possible between November and March. Read the rest of this entry »

DSCN4595-smNovember 29, 2010 – I can’t believe that Christmas is less than a month away. The weather has definitely not been too Christmasy… until this past week. The temperatures took a tumble and we had our first dose of snow that is actually staying on the ground. It was quite the shock from recent weather but it is helping it to feel a little more like the Christmas season is upon us (that and the thousands of commercials that are reminding us :-)). November 15, 2010 – Well… it suddenly dawned on me today why I am finding it so hard to do my updates on my blog lately. Not only have I just been super busy with work and finding the time to write has been difficult but everything else around here has been pretty uneventful. When you no longer have a challenging horse who keeps you “entertained”, or you aren’t shopping for a new horse, or things seem to be falling into place, writing about our daily lives just doesn’t seem to be too newsworthy. DSCN3678-tinyOctober 11, 2010 – Happy Thanksgiving to my horsey (and all) Canadian friends. I love this time of year when the weather is comfortable to be outside; the colours of the trees are at their peak; and turkey… lots and lots of turkey! I always get a big enough bird to feed the whole family plus have leftovers but this year there was a glitch in the plans so my sister and her family couldn’t make it. This means that we have 4 times as much leftover turkey. Not that I’m complaining… I love turkey but I think I need to get more recipes for turkey leftovers. And of course there is the never ending pumpkin pie and apple crumble. Yumm! Read the rest of this entry »

DSCN2058-sm2September12, 2010 – Sorry I missed getting a post out last week. Things have been crazy busy and I will try to fill you on everything here and yes, most of it is horse related. 🙂 First.. after close to 2 months off to recuperate from an injury in her back end, Ellie is sound again and doing great! So great, in fact, that Megan took her to the Tottenham schooling show on August 29th. Ellie was such a star. It was like this was just a regular thing for her. She was so calm and even standing around after her classes, she was calm and patient (perhaps the scorching temperatures had something to do with that). She pinned 4th over fences… what a star! June 14, 2010 – Can you believe that the kids only have about 1 week of school left before they are off for the summer? Megan has this week of classes  and then next week has her exams. After that, she will be home for 2 months… 2 months of “drive me here”, “I’m bored”, and “can my friends sleep over”. But it will also give her the opportunity to work more with Charlie and perfect his love of jumping. Read the rest of this entry »

June 1, 2010 – Phew… what a hot week it was around here last week! It was one of those kinds of weeks when you walk out the door and wham!… a wall of heat hits ya. Yuck! We usually have nice temperatures in May but this past week we even had heat alerts… it was sweltering. Is this a sign of things to come? Is this summer going to be a scorcher? I hope not and imagine the horses hope it isn’t either… the poor things were sweating just standing in the paddock. Read the rest of this entry »
